Iowa families deserve access to quality, affordable healthcare. Right now, we’re facing a growing shortage of primary care doctors, especially in rural communities. In fact, a recent report suggests that the primary care provider shortage will reach 87,000 in the next decade – that is unacceptable! Today, I introduced the bipartisan Train More Primary Care Doctors Act to invest in our healthcare workforce and ensure no Iowan is left without care. This bill would ensure that the next generation of healthcare professionals is ready to keep Iowa families healthy by: Training more primary care doctors and physician assistants Helping to develop new training programs for primary care providers Strengthening access to qualified health professionals, especially in rural areas Bottom Line: I will fight to ensure that every Iowan, no matter where they live, has access to the essential healthcare they need.
