Crow Introduces Bill to Expand Medicare, Lower Eligibility Age
October 26, 2026 Press Release AURORA — Congressman Jason Crow (D-CO) introduced legislation to expand Medicare and lower the eligibility age to 50 from 65, helping to lower healthcare and prescription drug costs and strengthen the Medicare Savings Program. As Republicans have cut healthcare to pay for tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans, Crow’s Improving Medicare Coverage Act will help ensure fewer Americans will be forced to choose between paying their bills and seeing a doctor. Joining Crow in introducing this bill are Representatives Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Chris Deluzio (D-PA), Debbie Dingell (D-MI), and Pat Ryan (D-NY). “We live in the richest country in the world. Coloradans shouldn’t have to choose between seeing a doctor and paying for their groceries,” said Congressman Crow . “Under Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans, healthcare has only gotten more expensive. This bill will help to lower costs and expand access by allowing more Americans who want it to get their healthcare through Medicare. This bill will save lives, lower costs, and ensure every American has affordable healthcare.” This bill is supported by Center for Health and Democracy, Labor Campaign for Single Payer, MoveOn, People’s Action Institute, Physicians for a National Health Program, Public Citizen, SEIU, United Auto Workers. Crow strongly opposed H.R. 1 , Republicans’ One Big Ugly Bill, which cut healthcare coverage for millions of Americans, is bankrupting rural hospitals, and is adding trillions of dollars to the national debt. He is a cosponsor of the Medicare for All Act to deliver comprehensive healthcare to every American with no premiums, no copayments, and no deductibles. As a veteran and member of the House Armed Services Committee, Crow has fought for better healthcare for our servicemembers , including expanding dental care to reservists and access to quality healthcare for servicemembers and their families. He’s also worked to improve care for active-duty servicemembers suffering from traumatic brain injuries and improve approaches to trauma care on the battlefield. He’s also worked to ensure our veterans are taken care of. Last November, Crow introduced a package of bills to improve services that veterans and their families rely on and strengthen the benefits they earned through their service.
