Gillen: “I’m proud to defend women’s freedom to make their own personal health care decisions.”
February 11, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) delivered remarks on the House Floor on H.R. 999 , the Right to Contraception Act. Gillen is a co-sponsor of the bill, which was recently re-introduced for the 119th Congress. Below is a video of her full speech and a copy of her remarks as prepared for delivery: Image Full remarks can be watched here . (As prepared for delivery) “In the two years since the Dobbs decision, we’ve seen nothing short of an all-out assault on our reproductive rights and freedoms, including a steady march to pass a national abortion ban coupled with efforts to roll back access to contraception and IVF. “It is truly shocking that in 2025 we have to defend Americans’ access to birth control and ability to decide when they start a family, but the attacks on our reproductive freedom keep coming. Four out of five people in this country oppose these attempts to take away our autonomy and freedoms. We must fight back. That means making sure the right to access contraception is codified into law. “I’m proud to co-sponsor H.R. 999, the Right to Contraception Act. I’ll continue to fight tooth and nail to defend women’s freedom to make their own personal health care decisions." CONTACT: Vidhya Jeyadev , 202-669-5538
