Sykes Announces $3.8 Million Grant for YWCA Canton’s Early Head Start Program CANTON, OH — Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) announced that the YWCA Canton has received a $3,825,915 federal grant to support its Early Head Start programming and provide year-round child care and family support services for infants and toddlers across Stark County. “Every family deserves access to quality child care and the resources they need to give their children a strong start,” said Rep. Sykes. “This federal investment will help YWCA Canton continue providing critical early learning and family support services to children and families across Stark County. I’m proud to support programs that give children the opportunity to thrive while helping parents and caregivers build a stronger future for their families.” “YWCA Canton is grateful for the continued support of its board of directors, childcare partners, staff, and community partners who help make these services possible.” said Janelle M. Lee, CEO of YWCA Canton. YWCA Canton provides year-round child care and family support services through its Early Learning Center and in partnership with Small Steps Big Dreams, JRC Learning Center, Artful Family, OakPark Childcare, and Stuckey Learning Center. Together, these providers serve infants and toddlers throughout Stark County, including children in foster care and families experiencing homelessness, living below the poverty line, or raising children with developmental needs.
