Husted withholds pay during government shutdown
“Now, with the shutdown in its 11th day, I cannot in good conscience accept a paycheck while TSA officers, FEMA personnel and Coast Guard members are about to miss theirs.”
WASHINGTON – Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) wrote a letter asking the Financial Clerk of the Senate to withhold his salary until the partial government shutdown ends.
“The House passed a bipartisan funding bill, and I hoped Senate Democrats would act just as quickly. Now, with the shutdown in its 11th day, I cannot in good conscience accept a paycheck while TSA officers, FEMA personnel and Coast Guard members are about to miss theirs. I will withhold my salary until a bill is passed to reopen the government,”said Husted.
