Van Hollen Statement on Trump Administration Actions Against Federal Workers

Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released the following statement on the Trump Administration’s actions to layoff federal employees without cause:
“The Trump-Musk Administration’s across-the-board, sweeping layoffs are not only hurting our dedicated public servants — they will also undermine the federal government’s ability to deliver important services to all Americans. These orders are sowing more chaos and confusion, and their haphazard, arbitrary nature shows no basis in improving the way our government works. This is another clear example of idiocy over efficiency. And it’s ultimately part of their effort to eliminate services for Americans in order to pay for tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and hand the keys of the federal government over to Elon Musk and other powerful special interests to serve their will, not that of the American people.
“To all the federal workers affected, I stand with you and won’t stop fighting — alongside our legal partners and in Congress — to reverse these reprehensible actions.”
