Stanton Appointed to Serve on Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party
WASHINGTON, D.C.— This week, Representative Greg Stanton was appointed by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to serve on the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). “The Chinese Communist Party represents an unprecedented challenge to America’s economy and our national security,” Stanton said. “I’m ready to work with my colleagues across the aisle to enact smart, substantive policies to counter the CCP’s growing global influence, stand against military aggression, secure American supply chains, fight the export of fentanyl and related precursor chemicals and protect American’s intellectual property and jobs.” On January 3, 2025, the House voted to renew the Select Committee for the 119th Congress. The Select Committee was created by a bipartisan vote in 2023, with the support of then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Leader Jeffries.
