NSCEB Statement on Pentagon’s Updated List of Chinese Military Companies Operating in U.S.

WASHINGTON – Today, the Chair and Vice Chair of the National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology (NSCEB), Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) and Dr. Michelle Rozo, released the following statement addressing the recently updated 1260H list of “Chinese military companies” operating directly or indirectly in the United States: “In April 2025, the NSCEB highlighted the vulnerability our current reliance on Chinese biotechnology firms creates for U.S. national security and called for a prohibition on the use of biotechnology suppliers that are deemed to pose a national security threat. We applaud the Pentagon for taking concrete steps this week to update its 1260H list with the addition of Chinese biotechnology companies that have known ties to the Chinese military. We must also reinforce the American biotech ecosystem, including through investing in alternatives to Chinese biotech companies of concern, so that our industry is built on a foundation of trusted suppliers and service providers.” The Pentagon’s Section 1260H list identifies Chinese companies operating in the United States that the Department of War determines have ties to China’s military or military-civil fusion strategy. Companies on the list face increased scrutiny and restrictions on certain U.S. government contracting and business activities.
