Feenstra Praises Trump Administration for Implementing His Legislation to Increase Access to Crop Insurance for Beginning Farmers
August 20, 2025 Press Release HULL, IOWA – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) issued the following statement praising the Trump administration for implementing his Crop Insurance for Future Farmers Act – which was signed into law as part of the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” – to increase access to crop insurance for young and beginning farmers. “I’m thrilled that my bill – the Crop Insurance for Future Farmers Act – will be officially implemented at the USDA to help lower the cost of crop insurance for young and beginning Iowa farmers and producers. This initiative will support the next generation of Iowa agriculture, protect our family farms, and keep Iowa farmland in the hands of Iowa farmers,” said Rep. Feenstra . “By enacting this legislation through President Trump’s ‘One, Big, Beautiful Bill,’ we will increase access to affordable, reliable crop insurance policies that protect our young producers, grow our economy, and keep Iowa agriculture strong. I thank President Trump and Secretary Rollins for prioritizing rural Iowa and standing with our young and beginning farmers.” In 2023, Feenstra first introduced the Crop Insurance for Future Farmers Act , which would align the definition of “Beginning Farmer” to match most other beginning-farmer programs, extending crop and livestock insurance protections to ten years for new and beginning farmers. In 2024, this legislation was included in the Farm Bill that passed out of the House Agriculture Committee, and this year, Feenstra secured its inclusion in the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill,” which became law on July 4 th . Under this law, young and beginning farmers will receive increased premium support during their first decade in business.
