Rosen Helps Introduce Bill to Protect Sensitive Locations from Immigration Raids

WASHINGTON, D.C.– U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) helped introduce theProtecting Sensitive Locations Actto provide commonsense protections against immigration enforcement in sensitive locations like schools, hospitals, and churches. In January, the Trump Administration issued amemorandumthat rescinded previous guidance that prohibited immigration enforcement in sensitive locations.
“Nevada families who contribute to our state and our economy every day deserve to have peace of mind when they’re attending church, visiting a hospital, or sending their kids to school,”said Senator Rosen. “It’s outrageous that President Trump has overturned longstanding policy to prevent immigration raids in these locations as a way to intimidate law-abiding families and force them to live in fear. I’m helping introduce this bill to protect families in sensitive areas and stop the Trump Administration from attacking Nevada’s immigrant communities.”
Senator Rosen has been outspoken in her opposition tomass deportation, and her strong support for DACA and TPS recipients and their families. Shestrongly denouncedthe Trump Administration for revoking a previously authorized TPS extension for immigrants from Venezuela. Earlier this year, sheapplaudedthe extension of TPS status for immigrants from El Salvador and Venezuela, aftercalling on the Biden Administrationto continue to protect displaced Salvadorans. She has alsoraised concernsover the significant application delays impacting DACA recipients, and gave a floor speechurgingher Senate colleagues to take immediate action to permanently protect Dreamers, while simultaneously continuing to work to pass comprehensive immigration reform that provides a pathway to citizenship.
