March 4, 2025
“Tonight, the president outlined what he’s doing to make our country secure, strong and prosperous—and that’s exactly why Ohioans sent him back to Washington. I’ve seenthe president in action, and I’m going to keep working to put American families, workersand values first.”
WASHINGTON – Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) made this statement following PresidentDonald Trump’s Joint Address to Congress this evening.
“Ohioans voted for a Republican trifecta in Washington for only the fourth time inmodern history because they believe President Trump and CongressionalRepublicans will bring common sense solutions and accountability toWashington.
“Tonight, we heard about how the president is keeping that promise. The criminalillegal immigrants and violent cartels who have poured through our open bordershave threatened Ohioans’ safety and their jobs. I am encouraged President Trumpand his administration are already securing our border and enforcing our laws.
“Importantly, President Trump is keeping his promises through his work tocontrol the inflation caused by the Biden administration’s reckless spending oftrillions of dollars on the backs of American taxpayers. The president is exposingand ending waste, fraud and abuse in Washington every day. I talked with himjust a few days ago about how Congress is doing its part to stop irresponsibleand foolish federal spending.
“Ohio families have to balance their household budgets. They don’t have theluxury of wasting money they don’t have, and President Trump is forcing thefederal bureaucracy to live by the same reality.
“He’s also tackling inflation by supporting sustainable, affordable Americanenergy. Skyrocketing energy prices have made almost everything cost more whenOhioans go to the grocery store or gas pump. In the Senate, I helped pass abudget resolution to make President Trump’s America First agenda a permanentreality.
