Moskowitz Statement on the Biden Administration’s Decision to Remove Cuba’s Designation As A State Sponsor of Terrorism

<p><strong>WASHINGTON, DC</strong> — Following the Biden Administration’s announcement that it intends to remove Cuba from the United States’ list of state sponsors of terrorism, Congressman Jared Moskowitz released the following statement:</p>

<p>“The Biden Administration’s decision to remove Cuba from the United States’ list of state sponsors of terrorism is&nbsp;wholly unacceptable. The Cuban regime’s record of supporting terror and harboring terrorists is clear and longstanding, and it cannot be ignored.</p>

<p>“At the same time, as a member of the House&nbsp;Committee on Foreign Affairs, I have long advocated for the release of political prisoners wrongfully detained by the Cuban regime. Reports that the regime will release hundreds of these individuals is an encouraging step for them and their families. Their release must be swift, must allow them the freedom of movement to reunite with their loved ones, and must not be followed by&nbsp;subsequent wrongful detention at the hands of the Cuban regime.</p>

<p>“Through the terms of this agreement, the Biden Administration diminishes the ironclad support that Cuban Americans deserve from all of their elected officials and completes Florida’s political transformation.”</p>

<p>A member of the House&nbsp;Committee on Foreign Affairs, Moskowitz has been a leading voice to stand up to the Cuban regime and support the Cuban diaspora in Florida.&nbsp;</p>
