Rep. John McGuire celebrates passage of DHS appropriations bill in the House of Representatives

March 6, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Representative John McGuire (VA-05) voted for the passage of the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill in the House of Representatives. The vote is the second of its kind after Democrats previously failed to fund the DHS in protest to ICE, which was already funded in the Working Families Tax Cut Act. “I am pleased my colleagues and I in the House of Representatives were finally able to pass legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security,” said Rep. John McGuire (VA-05). “After voting twice on the same bill, both times supported by House Republicans, we finally passed this critical legislation that keeps Americans safe. For weeks, Republicans have done what is right, while Democrats played politics and held the funding hostage. We are now one step closer to funding DHS, the last appropriations bill needed to fully fund the government. Agencies like TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard should not be used as a bargaining chip. I urge the Senate to pass this legislation so we can move forward and keep Americans safe.”
