Boyle Statement on Third Circuit Ruling on President’s House Slavery Exhibits

June 18, 2026 Press Release PHILADELPHIA, PA – Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) released the following statement after the Third Circuit Court of Appeals overturned an injunction preventing the Trump administration from removing exhibits referencing the brutality of slavery at Independence National Historical Park, which is located in Boyle’s district: “Just a block away from where our nation was founded, Donald Trump is choosing the path of tyrants who rewrite history instead of learning from it. As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, we must tell the full truth of our nation’s history — the good and the bad. Today’s ruling underscores the need for Congress to pass my Protecting American History Act to permanently block Trump from removing these exhibits. This fight is not over — and I will not rest until we stop this censorship and live up to America’s founding ideals.” Background: In February, Boyle joined community leaders at Independence National Historical Park (INHP) to announce the Protecting American History Act , which requires the National Park Service to restore INHP exactly as it existed on January 21, 2026. Following Trump’s attempt to censor these exhibits, Boyle led Philadelphia’s House delegation to send a letter opposing the removal and demanding answers from Administration officials. ###
