House Passes Cybersecurity Legislation Led by Congresswoman Shontel Brown

Image March 7, 2025 Press Release Washington, D.C. – This week, the House passed H.R. 872, the Federal Contractor Cybersecurity Vulnerability Reduction Act, bipartisan legislation co-led by Congresswoman Shontel Brown, Ranking Member of the Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation Subcommittee and Subcommittee Chairwoman Nancy Mace. The bill requires federal contractors to establish vulnerability disclosure programs to strengthen cybersecurity defenses and protect federal information systems from potential cyber threats. By implementing this requirement, the legislation ensures federal contractors play an active role in securing federal agency networks, reducing risks before they can be exploited by malicious actors. "Cybersecurity isn’t optional, it’s essential. We need to make sure federal contractors follow national guidelines to protect digital infrastructure so that we can ensure our systems are secure.
