Here's what's happening in Congress.

June 8, 2026 Past Newsletters Here’s how I’ve been fighting for you in Congress: A check on Trump’s war in Iran: Last week, the House of Representatives passed a war powers resolution to end Trump’s war in Iran. Trump’s illegal war has caused gas prices to skyrocket and put our brave service members at risk. This isn’t about politics – it’s about the Constitution and returning war-making authority to the people. This war has made our country less safe, risked a broader regional war, and raised costs for American families. Our war powers resolution was a powerful step that shows we can fight back against Trump. The measure is now moving to the Senate for consideration. Protecting SNAP and lowering energy costs: I offered eight amendments to an appropriations bill to fund the Agriculture, Rural Development, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and related agencies for Fiscal Year 2027. My amendments protect working families, farmers, and vulnerable communities across Indiana and the country. At a time when families are struggling with rising costs, we should be strengthening the programs and investments that help people put food on the table, lower energy bills, and support Hoosier communities. You can read more about my amendments here. Image Investing in Indiana’s rural airports: As the top Democrat on the Aviation Subcommittee, I’m fighting to strengthen the essential aviation industry. In Indiana, our economy just doesn’t run without rural airports. They connect businesses and strengthen supply chains – plus they’re lifelines in times of disaster or medical emergencies. But we need to invest more in these rural airports so Indiana doesn’t miss out on opportunity. I questioned witnesses at a to explore how we can make progress. Watch the full hearing here. SUCCESS STORY OF THE WEEK: “The Medicare office was not returning my calls or emails regarding my application, and I could not move forward with my Social Security application without it. Very quickly, I heard back from the person at the Congressman’s office who helped me, and the situation has been resolved.” --Indianapolis resident Do you have a question about a federal program like Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid?
