Led the Washington delegation in a letter to the U.S. Department of Education, questioning delayed funds for Washington state public schools , and was elated to see that the Administration changed its course and is now sending all funds to schools across America. Updates from the Other Washington Voted Against the Greatest Scam in History Earlier this month, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) released an official statement after voting against the extreme, Right-Wing – led bill that resulted in the greatest, most cruel scam in history. Read more Strickland Tackles Extreme Heat and Modernizes Transit Corridors Congresswoman Strickland and Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) introduced the Cool Corridors Act of 2025. The bipartisan legislation focuses on mitigating extreme heat in urban areas by investing in tree canopies and shade infrastructure along transit corridors, sidewalks, bus stops, school zones, and underserved neighborhoods. Read more Other Legislative Action Introduced the bipartisan, Ensuring Access to FMLA Leave for Military Spouses Act , which reduces the qualifying time for which a military spouse must be employed prior to taking Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave from 12 months to 90 days. Reintroduced the Reproductive Health Travel Fund Act to provide grant assistance for those who travel long distances to receive reproductive health care, including abortion care.
