Rep. Juan Vargas to Vote NO on DHS Funding Bill
January 22, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Juan Vargas (D-CA-52) released the following statement on the Homeland Security funding bill. “Today, the House will vote on a bill to give ICE over $10 billion in federal funding with no guardrails. I am voting NO. ICE is out of control. We have seen agents teargas children and shoot a pastor in the head with pepper balls. We have seen agents wrongfully target and drag a grandfather out of his house at gunpoint in freezing temperatures. We have seen them brutalize innocent people. And earlier this month, we saw an ICE agent murder Renee Good, a young mother of three. There is no justification for this. I won’t vote to send taxpayer dollars to a rogue agency that terrorizes our communities, escalates violence, and denies people their constitutional rights.” ###
