WASHINGTON D.C. –Today, Senator Andy Kim joined Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senators Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY) and Mazie Hirono (D-HI) at a press conference to condemn Trump’s chaotic tariff tax policy and the harm being inflicted on working American families, small businesses, and the United States’ beneficial role as a global leader and trade partner.
“I had the chance to speak to some constituents back in New Jersey about their reaction to what just happened, especially business owners, and they said two things to me: ‘the damage is already done and that uncertainty remains’,”said Senator Kim.

Senator Kim continued:“You see very clearly right now that America first to Donald Trump when it comes to foreign policy means America alone. Look how alone we are in this moment. It is shameful. It is something, myself as someone who has worked in national security, I have never seen this level of isolation of the United States as I do right now.”

On April 7th, the Senator joined fellow Democrats on the Senate Banking Committee incalling on the committee’s chairman to exercise congress’ oversight dutyand hold a hearing to review the tariffs’ harm on working families and the full damage they have inflicted on local, national, and global economies. Senator Kim has also continued toamplify the concerns of small businesses and community members, from Passaic County, Newark, and across New Jersey, burdened as tariffs and the prospect of continued tariffs increase costs across the board
