February 19, 2025 Press Release “Donald Trump’s rationale for his partisan cancellation of New York’s congestion pricing program is as hypocritical as it is groundless. To claim that the law does not allow for the program while simultaneously ignoring every statute that checks his authority is patently absurd. “Numerous courts have upheld congestion pricing’s legality, and the program has already resulted in reduced congestion, fewer traffic accidents, increased foot traffic, and hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue that will be used to improve the nation’s largest public transportation system that services the vast majority of New York City commuters. “Donald Trump’s power grab has now expanded from the federal government to New York. I support the MTA’s lawsuit against this pretextual and baseless attempt to punish a state that has held him accountable.
