Husted withholds pay during government shutdown
October 15, 2025
“I cannot accept pay while millions of federal employees and countless federal services wait for Congress to do its job.”
WASHINGTON – Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) wrote a letter asking the Financial Clerk of the Senate to withhold his salary until the government shutdown ends.
“Since the Democrats chose to play politics at the expense of the American people, we’re currently in a government shutdown. With that, I am refusing to take a paycheck until Congress funds the government. I cannot accept pay while millions of federal employees and countless federal services wait for Congress to do its job. I’m going to work around the clock until we get the government working for Americans again,”said Husted.
