Congressman Kennedy Condemns Trump Administration Move to Dismantle Department of Education

Congressman Tim Kennedy (NY-26) released the following statement after President Trump signed an executive order illegally dismantling the Department of Education: “As an occupational therapist who provided early intervention services for children with special needs, I am horrified by the Trump Administration’s attempts to dismantle the Department of Education. “In less than two months, the administration has purged half of the department’s workforce – leaving children with disabilities, students seeking a higher education, and those experiencing discrimination without the support they need. As a result, our young people will pay the price. Now, the President is further devastating the education system in our country with this reckless attempt to dismantle the department. Without an act of Congress, this action is not only wrong but illegal. “I am committed to holding the President accountable, and defending against this attack on our teachers, our students, and our nation.” ###
