Meuser Joins Downtown Berwick Transformation Groundbreaking Ceremony

October 29, 2026 Press Release BERWICK, PA — Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) joined community leaders for the groundbreaking of the Coblentz Corner project in downtown Berwick. The project will transform the long-vacant property at one of Berwick’s busiest intersections into a revitalized and vibrant downtown. The Coblentz Corner facility will house a new teen center, entrepreneurship academy, and restaurant incubator on the corner of West Front Street and North Market Street, just one block from the Berwick – Nescopeck Veterans Memorial Bridge over the Susquehanna River. Congressman Meuser secured $1.5 million in community project funding during the FY24 appropriations process to support this community revitalization project. This project was also made possible by a $73,963 USDA Rural Business Development Grant, and state funding supported by State Senator Lynda Culver and State Representative Robert Leadbeter. “When I began representing Columbia County and our entire district in Congress, I wanted to leave our communities better than how I found them. This project is a perfect example. I’m pleased to see the Coblentz Corner project breaking ground after years of preparation, coordination with state and local officials, and securing the necessary funding. This success demonstrates why community projects and constituent services are so important to me and my team. When we work with state and local leaders on these projects, relationships are enhanced, and we deliver strong results for residents and businesses,” said Congressman Meuser. “This project is about more than just beautifying downtown. It’s also a reinvestment in the community by providing a place for teens and prospective entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to life. I’m pleased to have played a role in securing the funding for this transformation at the heart of Berwick and look forward to the many benefits it will have for the community once completed.” “The investment from Berwick Borough and Columbia County showed that this project matters to the community. The investment from the State of Pennsylvania gave it credibility. The support of Congressman Meuser through the Community Project Funding made it real,” said Deputy Director of Community Strategies Group Josh Nespoli. “Without this federal investment, particularly with how matching fund requirements work, there is no project.” Congressman Meuser was joined at today’s groundbreaking ceremony by State Senator Culver, Columbia County Commissioners David Kovach, Dean Brewer, and Randy Karschner, Berwick Borough Manager Damien Scoblink, Deputy Director of Community Strategies Group Josh Nespoli, President of the Columbia-Montour Chamber of Commerce Chris Berleth, and representatives of For The Cause Teen Center.
