Congresswoman Pou Wins Over $14.4 Million for North Jersey Community Projects

February 6, 2026 Press Release With second round of funding, Pou has secured over $24 million for NJ09 WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) announced that the 2026 government spending bill package enacted this week included $14,494,000 for 15 separate community projects in the Ninth Congressional District championed by Pou. With their passage into law, Congresswoman Pou has so far this year secured funding for 26 separate community projects in North Jersey, totaling $24,205,000 delivered for the people of New Jersey’s Ninth District. “I am proud to secure this additional round of multi-million dollar direct federal investments for communities across our district,” said Congresswoman Pou . “These funds reflect what effective representation looks like: delivering real resources that strengthen public safety, expand access to recreation and education, address flooding and transportation challenges, and support our most vulnerable residents. From infrastructure and stormwater management to youth programs, food security, and services for seniors and the unhoused, these projects will make a tangible difference in people’s daily lives. I am grateful to our Senators, Senators Booker and Kim, for their continued partnership on behalf of our cities and towns, and will work to make sure this money reaches our cities and towns as quickly as possible.” List of projects for the Ninth Congressional District included in the most recent FY2026 appropriations bills: Road Repair and Street Safety Recipient : Borough of Little Ferry Amount : $250,000 Purpose : To provide funding for repairing roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems.  Repairs would improve pedestrian and motorist safety, reduce the risk of flooding, and improve access for residents to schools, houses of worship, public transportation, and other important locations. Holster Park Rehabilitation Recipient : City of Clifton Amount : $850,000 Purpose : Funding for a capital improvement project to rehabilitate Holster Park, including the construction of an inclusive playground, walking path, pavilion, and other accessibility and recreational improvements. Community Center Renovation Recipient : Borough of Ridgefield Amount : $600,000 Purpose : To renovate the Ridgefield Community Center to increase energy efficiency. Improvements will include renovating the roof and installing solar panels, and installing electric vehicle charging stations and two solar canopies in the center parking lot. Parking Garage Construction Recipient : City of Passaic Amount : $3,150,000 Purpose : To support the design and construction of a high-capacity parking facility that addresses the ongoing parking shortages in Passaic. The renovated parking deck will incorporate ADA-compliant features to ensure improved access for individuals with disabilities. Stormwater Management Recipient : County of Passaic Amount : $250,000 Purpose : To fund the purchase of 20 vacant, privately owned lots in downtown Paterson to implement a stormwater management project to reduce the impact of significant weather and flooding events. Passaic Avenue Safety Improvement Recipient : County of Hudson Amount : $3,000,000 Purpose : To fund construction of roadway, pedestrian, and cyclist safety improvements on Passaic Avenue in Kearny. Recreation Center Recipient : City of Paterson Amount : $250,000 Purpose : For construction of a new recreational building at a youth complex in Paterson to provide residents with a multi-use space, including a gymnasium, college support area, and an entrepreneurial suite. Homeless Hub Project Recipient : City of Paterson Amount : $3,200,000 Purpose : To construct a multi-purpose building that will act as a homeless shelter and hub for social services. Recreation Center Renovation Recipient : Town of Secaucus Amount : $250,000 Purpose : Funding will be used to help construct a new gym for youth and high school-level sports programs and build a state-of-the-art gymnasium for sports, tournaments, and special events year-round. Funds will modernize the facility and expand its capacity to serve a growing population, meeting the increasing demand for recreational services in the area. Recycling Center Rehabilitation Project Recipient : Borough of Haledon Amount: $250,000 Purpose : To rehabilitate the roof and doors of the Haledon Recycling Center to protect it from water or storm damage. The funding will be used to help the center process materials like scrap metal, used motor oil and car batteries, and tires. Senior Transportation System Recipient : Borough of East Rutherford Amount : $29,000 Purpose : To help purchase a new senior-transportation vehicle, which will help senior residents visit their primary care physicians and local pharmacies. Felician University Tech Upgrades Recipient : Felician University Amount: $675,000 Purpose : Funding will be used to provide much-needed upgrades to the university’s technology infrastructure, which will increase students’ access to technology-rich teaching and learning environments as well as critical, just-in-time advising support. Boys & Girls Club Youth Programming Recipient : Boys and Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic Amount: $500,000 Purpose : To help purchase toys and provide trauma-informed, wrap-around support services and out-of-school time programming. Food Security Project Recipient : City Green Amount: $200,000 Purpose : Funding will support a meal delivery program, including vehicles and equipment. City Green provides a variety of programs, including School Gardens, Field Trips, Children's & Family Program, Teen After School, Community Gardens, Regenerative Farming, therapeutic horticulture, and adult education in Clifton. Performing Arts Education Recipient : Wharton Institute for Performing Arts Amount: $90,000 Purpose : Funding will help support music instruction education, and programming for Paterson students and assist with purchasing music education equipment. ###
