Senator Andy Kim Statement on GENIUS Act

WASHINGTON D.C.–Senator Andy Kimreleased the following statement as the Senate considers S.1582, the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act:
“While I support innovation and growth in blockchain and crypto, we have to do so in a way that stops terrorist groups, cartels, and rogue states like Iran and North Korea from using this tech to move and hide billions of dollars. I voted yes in committee on this legislation last month with the hope that we could put in the necessary anti-money laundering provisions. I am still in negotiations with my colleagues on that language and hope we can come to agreement.”
