Houchin Announces Winners of 2026 Congressional Art Competition
June 2, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) announced the winners of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition. This year's winners are: First Place: "Teal Flowers" by Olivia Briscoe, Salem High School Second Place & People's Choice: "Synthetic Sanctuary" by Anagail Mulley, Scottsburg High School Third Place: "The Metamora Boat Canal" by Michaela McDaniel, Jac-Cen-Del High School "The Congressional Art Competition is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the creativity and talent of students across Indiana's Ninth District," said Congresswoman Houchin. "I was incredibly impressed by the quality of this year's submissions and grateful to every student who participated. Congratulations to Olivia, Anagail, and Michaela on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you to the teachers, families, and schools who encourage and support these talented young artists." As the first-place winner, Olivia Briscoe’s artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside winning pieces from congressional districts across the country. The second-place winner’s artwork will be displayed in Congresswoman Houchin’s office on Capitol Hill, and the third-place winner’s artwork will be displayed in the district office in Salem, Indiana. The Congressional Art Competition is an annual event sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize and encourage artistic talent among high school students in each congressional district.
