Fedorchak’s statement on the nomination of Kirsten Baesler to the U.S Department of Education

February 12, 2025 Press Release Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) released the following statement congratulating North Dakota Superintendent of Public Instruction Kirsten Baesler on her nomination to serve as the Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education in the U.S. Department of Education. “Kirsten has dedicated her entire career to education. No one is better suited or experienced to help break down the barriers for children, parents, and teachers seeking high quality education. Her leadership and tenacity will push for reforms that help children get the education they need and deserve to pursue their dreams and lead our nation in the future. I am so excited for Kirsten and even more excited for the world of K-12 education!” Fedorchak said. Image Baesler has served as head of North Dakota’s Department of Public Instruction since January 2013. In November 2024, she was re-elected to the position for a four-year term. Before heading the Department of Public Instruction, Baesler served in the Bismarck Public Schools system for 24 years, where she rose to the role of Vice Principal. In addition, Baesler served as a Mandan School Board member for nine years, including as the board’s president for seven years. ### Issues : Congress Education
