Landsman Bill to Track Ukrainian Children Abducted by Russia Signed into Law

<p><strong><em>Cincinnati, OH –</em></strong><em>&nbsp;Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) announced his bipartisan bill to help Ukraine track their abducted children by Russia was signed into law.</em></p>

<p>Congressman Landsman’s bipartisan bill – the&nbsp;<em><u><a href="https://d12t4t5x3vyizu.cloudfront.net/landsman.house.gov/uploads/2025/12/Abducted-Ukrainian-Kids-Recovery-and-Accountability-Act.pdf">Abducted Ukrainian Children Recovery and Accountability Act</a></u></em>&nbsp;–&nbsp;will reestablish the U.S. Department of State&#8217;s program&nbsp;to&nbsp;provide the Ukrainian government with technical and training assistance to track the abducted children.</p>

<p>The Yale School of Public Health’s Humanitarian Research Lab estimates up to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.npr.org/2025/09/17/nx-s1-5544256/russia-ukraine-war-children-military-training-reeducation-yale">35,000 children from Ukraine</a>&nbsp;have been kidnapped and deported to Russia during the war.</p>

<p>In March, Congressman Landsman uncovered a cut to a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2025/03/18/trump-ukraine-children-russia-war-crimes/">State Department program</a>&nbsp;tracking stolen Ukrainian children and pressed Secretary Rubio to&nbsp;<a href="https://landsman.house.gov/posts/landsman-leads-20-members-of-congress-in-letter-to-state-department-urging-restoration-of-funding-to-track-kidnapped-ukrainian-children">temporarily restore</a>&nbsp;its funding.</p>

<p>Landsman’s bill was included in Congress’ National Defense Authorization Act, which was signed into law by President Trump Thursday night.</p>
