RELEASE: Gottheimer Statement Against Trump’s Budget

<p><strong>WASHINGTON, D.C. </strong>— Today, April 10, 2025, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement after voting against the Trump budget resolution that is a direct assault on Jersey seniors:</p>

<p>“Far-right extremists in Congress have doubled down on a dangerous budget that’s nothing but a direct assault on Jersey seniors — including gutting Medicare and Medicaid. Combined with President Trump’s plans to gut Social Security and his insane tariff policy that is decimating the retirement savings of millions of Americans, their so-called strategy will crush Jersey seniors and families.</p>

<p>Instead of working to make life more affordable, these out-of-touch policies will raise costs, shrink retirement accounts, and slash the critical safety nets Jersey seniors depend on. Let me be clear: I will never stop fighting to protect Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security and to lower costs to make life more affordable for Jersey families. We need common sense, not more reckless chaos.”</p>
