January 7, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) released the following statement on the Certification of the 2024 Election results on Capitol Hill today: "The certification of the 2024 election results today demonstrates the peaceful transfer of power that is, and always should be, the hallmark of American democracy," said Rep. "While the election results were not what many of us had hoped they would be, it is our duty and responsibility as Members of Congress to respect the will of the people and abide by the law. "On this solemn day, we also remember the events of January 6th, 2021, and those who lost their lives in the attack on our nation’s Capitol.  This stain on American history will never be forgotten and we must ensure the events of that day never repeat again.
