Sánchez on Trump’s speech: Rambling praise for himself, no plan for Americans

Sánchez (D-Calif.) released the following statement in response to President Trump’s State of the Union: “I didn’t attend President Trump’s State of the Union. Instead, I watched from my office because I already knew what he would deliver: a long, rambling, self-congratulatory speech with no real solutions for the challenges Americans are facing. “While households stretch every dollar, he offered no serious plan to lower costs. No explanation of how he’ll refund working families and small businesses hurt by his illegal tariffs. Instead, he doubled down on the same failed trade policies that are driving up prices, costing families an estimated $1,700 more a year for groceries, housing and energy. “No plan to make health care more affordable or restore coverage for the millions who lost it to pay for his tax cuts for billionaires and cruel deportation agenda that is tearing families apart. “And no plan to work with Democrats on comprehensive immigration reform or to rein in ICE, just lavish praise for his agents’ abuses and the terror we’re seeing in our streets. “No plan or accountability. Just more chaos and worn-out excuses while Americans continue to pay the price.” ###
