Congressman Rogers Voted for the SAVE America Act to Protect Elections

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Rep. Harold "Hal" Rogers (KY-05) voted for the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act, which passed the House on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. The bill requires proof of American citizenship for federal voter registration to restore election integrity and prevent foreign interference. While 36 states require voters to show a form of ID to cast a ballot, 14 states do not, despite finding noncitizens and ineligible registrants on voter rolls. "American elections should only be decided by American citizens; it's a right and a privilege that we must protect," said Congressman Rogers, Dean of the House. “The Biden Administration's open-border policies made this legislation more important to our election security than ever before. The best way to safeguard the election of our American leaders is through basic voter identification in every state." The legislation also requires states to clean up voter rolls regularly and implement programs to identify and remove non-citizens from voter rolls. An overwhelming 83% of Americans support barring non-citizens from voting in U.S. elections and requiring ID to vote.
