06.30.26 Cantwell Statement on SCOTUS Ruling Affirming Birthright Citizenship EDMONDS, WA – This morning, the United States Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship, ruling against an executive order from President Donald Trump that would have denied citizenship to children born in the United States whose parents are here temporarily or illegally. U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) issued the following statement: “Our country has long held that children born on U.S. soil or U.S. territories are citizens.
