Griffith Announces $392,200 DOT Grant to Develop Virginia Highlands Airport
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded the Virginia Highlands Airport Commission, based in Washington County, Virginia, a $392,200 grant. The funding supports the expansion of aircraft storage space at Virginia Highlands Airport. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement: “Virginia Highlands Airport has had a comprehensive plan in place to improve aircraft storage capacity. This grant helps complete the final phase of that plan. “This DOT grant for more than $392,000 helps the Virginia Highlands Airport Commission construct two new hangars at Virginia Highlands Airport.” BACKGROUND These grant funds were made available through the Fiscal Year 2026 Airport Infrastructure Grant Program. ###
