Sykes Celebrates Passage of Bipartisan Science Committee Bills to Strengthen Innovation, Energy, and Public Safety WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology advanced four bipartisan bills focused on strengthening American innovation, expanding energy technologies, improving public safety, and supporting U.S. leadership in science and technology. U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13, a member of the committee, celebrated their passage. “These bills will help communities prepare for natural disasters, advance next-generation energy technologies, and support the research and innovation that keep our country competitive,” said Rep. Sykes. “I’m proud to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to move this legislation forward.” The bills includes H.R. 3168, the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program Reauthorization Act , which strengthens earthquake preparedness; H.R. 8437, the GEO POWER Act , which advances geothermal energy technologies; H.R. 9326, the Utilize Standards for All Act , which supports U.S. leadership in international standards; and H.R. 8981, the SCALE Biology Act , which advances engineering biology and biotechnology research.
