February 28, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative John McGuire (VA-05), today released the following statement on the Uranium for Energy Independence Act of 2025: “My bill, H.R. 1622, does not overturn the Commonwealth of Virginia’s moratorium on uranium mining. The legislation aligns with the Trump Administration’s goal of recognizing the national importance of uranium as a critical mineral, as it did during his first term. Uranium has defense, health, and technological uses.
