Stefanik Secures ROTC Program at Clarkson University as a Result of Her Strong Advocacy

Saratoga, NY - Today, House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik successfully led the effort to retain the Army’s Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program at Clarkson University in Potsdam as an extension unit. Stefanik worked closely with Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll to ensure Clarkson can continue this valuable program training our future leaders. The decision followed the Army’s comprehensive review and consideration of feedback from community leaders and key stakeholders. As a result, Army ROTC will commit to preserving access for Cadets and other students wanting to participate at Clarkson University. “As a strong advocate of our North Country schools and our ROTC programs, I am pleased to announce that Clarkson’s ROTC program will reactivate as an extension program after my advocacy with Army Secretary Driscoll,” said Chairwoman Stefanik. “I remain committed to ensuring an ROTC presence at Clarkson.” BACKGROUND: ROTC is a college-based program that provides students with leadership training and education to prepare them to become officers in the U.S. military's Army. Participants receive training, leadership development, and academic coursework in military science, and they may also be eligible for scholarships to help pay for college. ###
