Rep. Kiley Advocates for Robust AmeriCorps Funding to Improve Teaching Programs

<p><strong>WASHINGTON </strong>– This week, Representative Kevin Kiley (R-CA) asked the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies Committee on Appropriations to provide strong funding for AmeriCorps in its 2026 fiscal year bill.</p>

<p>AmeriCorps addresses national workforce shortages through professional programs like Teach for America (TFA), which places high-impact teachers in underserved schools.</p>

<p>“As a proud TFA alumnus, I’ve seen firsthand how impactful the program is for students and teachers,” Rep. Kiley said. “Professional Corps programs like TFA are proven, cost-effective solutions to longstanding workforce challenges,&nbsp;especially teacher shortages,&nbsp;and continued investment in these programs will have a meaningful, measurable impact on students and communities across the country.”</p>

<p>For more than 30 years, TFA has placed teachers in rural areas, underserved urban communities, public carter schools, and other high-need classrooms. Many TFA teachers also serve in hard-to-staff subjects such as STEM and special education.</p>
