Clarke Releases Statement on the Detention of Roberto Lamour

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 26, 2026 MEDIA CONTACT: e: jessica.myers@mail.house.gov c: 202.913.0126 BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Today, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09) issued the following statement on the detention of Roberto Lamour, a Haitian father taken from his Flatbush home and transferred more than a thousand miles away from his wife and young daughter: “No family should have to endure the trauma and uncertainty of being separated from a loved one under the blatantly xenophobic, inhumane, and cruel circumstances that this administration continues to inflict upon immigrant communities across this nation. The allegation that federal immigration agents posed as NYPD officers to gain entry into the home of our neighbor, Mr. Roberto Lamour, is deeply alarming and warrants a full investigation. Rest assured, I will work with NYPD leadership and coordinate with local elected officials to ensure the rampant abuse of power and injustice of this case never again occurs within New York’s Ninth Congressional District. “Our immigrant communities deserve dignity, transparency, and due process, not to be terrorized in their own homes. I stand with Mr. Lamour’s family, neighbors, and the Haitian community in calling for answers, accountability, and his immediate release and return to his home in Brooklyn. And I will continue to stand with and fight for our immigrant communities and work alongside advocates and my colleagues at every level of government to ensure families like the Lamours are not forgotten and their voices are heard.” ###
