Speaker Johnson Welcomes Winner of 2026 Congressional Art Competition to the U.S. Capitol

WASHINGTON — On Thursday in the U.S. Capitol, Speaker Johnson visited with Maycie Howard, this year’s first-place winner of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for Louisiana’s Fourth Congressional District. Maycie’s painting, “A Moment at Cypress Black Bayou,” will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year. The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide, visual art contest for high school students, in which one piece of artwork from each congressional district is chosen by a panel of judges to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year. The second, third, and fourth place selections will be proudly displayed in Speaker Johnson’s congressional offices. Click here for more on this year's winners. ###
