Congressman Mike Haridopolos Releases Statement on DOT’s $4.9 Million Grant to Improve Safety at 7 Railway Crossings in Brevard County

January 10, 2025 Press Release Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) released the following statement in response to the announcement that the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) and its partners, Florida East Coast Railway, Brightline Trains Florida, Brevard County and the Cities of Cocoa and Melbourne, have received a federal grant for $4.9 million which will empower a $6.1 million project to improve safety at 7 at-grade railroad crossings throughout Brevard County. “Government has no higher priority than the safety of the people,” said Haridopolos. “These new gate-crossing technologies will reduce crashes by preventing vehicles from crossing the tracks at illegal and dangerous times. I salute the TPO and its partners for coming together to support the vital safety of our important freight and passenger rail transportation system.”
