February 10, 2025 Press Release ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) released the following statement honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr: “Today, as we celebrate and reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we recommit ourselves to the work ahead. Dr. King’s dedication to the fight for social, racial, and economic justice and his dream for this country and the world remain as salient today as ever. "As we work to build a society where peace prevails over violence, justice over inequality, and love over division and hate, we must heed Dr. King’s call not to give into the politics of despair but to continue to hew the stone of hope. “In celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we reaffirm our dedication to these principles regardless of the political challenges ahead. We must speak up when we see injustices and protect communities we hold dear. Together, we must continue to draw on the lessons Dr. King taught our nation and continue the work towards building a more perfect union.” ###
