Van Hollen Statement on Kilmar Ábrego Garcia Deportation Hearing

Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released the following statement on today’s postponed hearing before U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis on the Trump Administration’s intent to deport Kilmar Ábrego Garcia to a third country: “While today’s hearing did not proceed, the Trump Administration continues to desperately try and ship Kilmar Ábrego Garcia to a faraway country and deny him of his constitutional due process rights. We must not forget that a federal judge has already made clear what we have long known: the Trump Administration’s Department of Justice is engaged in a vindictive prosecution against Kilmar. This should chill every American to the bone. When the rights of one are threatened, the rights of all are at risk.” ###
