Hickenlooper Statement on Trump’s Escalation of Illegal Iran War

Three more U.S. service members were killed in the Middle East over the weekend Nationwide average gas price hit $4/gallon , after recent report that Coloradans have spent $1B more on gas since beginning of war WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper released the below statement after the tenth consecutive night of intense U.S. strikes in Iran following a complete breakdown of President Trump’s ‘memorandum of understanding’ and ceasefire: “This weekend was a painful reminder that President Trump’s war isn’t some distant conflict. It’s costing lives and hurting Colorado families. “Seventeen heroic U.S. service members have now been tragically killed, with many more injured. More than a hundred billion in taxpayer dollars have been spent for no discernible benefit, while working families struggle to afford gas, groceries, and health care. “With no deal in sight, President Trump is now escalating this illegal war even further, with no clear justification and no endgame. “Enough is enough. The American people overwhelmingly don’t want this war of choice. President Trump needs to end it before more lives are lost and more damage is done.” Hickenlooper has been a vocal opponent of the president’s illegal war since day one. Hickenlooper has consistently voted to end Trump’s highly unpopular and illegal war with Iran. He’s called out skyrocketing gas prices and costly impacts on farmers’ bottom lines. Hickenlooper has spoken multiple times on the Senate floor condemning Trump for sidestepping Congress and dragging America into a war that’s driving Americans’ cost-of-living through the roof. ###
