Bresnahan Launches Art Competition for NEPA Students

March 6, 2026 Press Release SCRANTON, PA: Today, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) launched the 2026 Congressional Art Competition, inviting high school students across Pennsylvania’s Eighth District to submit their art projects and showcase their talents. The winning artwork will be displayed for a year in the U.S. Capitol. “The Congressional Art Competition is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the creativity and talent of students right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania,” said Rep. Bresnahan. “I encourage every young artist in our district to participate and share their unique perspective.” Image Participants of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition Last year, over 70 students from 11 high schools competed in the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. First place was awarded to Rhianna Kupetz, a student at Old Forge High School, for artwork entitled, Potato Heart. The competition is open to all high school students who reside in Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District. Artwork may include paintings, drawings, photographs, mixed media, and other approved visual art forms. The winning piece will be exhibited alongside artwork from Congressional districts nationwide. The winner will also be invited to Washington, D.C., for a special recognition ceremony honoring artists from across the country. “Our students are incredibly talented, and I look forward to seeing the outstanding artwork they create,” continued Rep. Bresnahan. “This competition is a chance for young artists to represent Northeastern Pennsylvania in the halls of the Capitol.” All submissions must be received by March 31, 2026.
