Correa Votes No on Bill to Give Trump More Tariff Power
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) released the following statement after voting ‘no’ on a Russia sanctions bill that would expand President Trump's tariff authority: "I have been an advocate against the war Russia has brought on Ukraine, and I will always support real, nonpartisan sanctions that hold Putin accountable. But I will not hand this president even more unchecked tariff power. He has abused that power, and giving him more will not fix the cost-of-living crisis – it will make it worse. Sixty percent of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, and this administration's tariffs have already driven up prices of everyday goods. Congress had the chance to write a serious, impactful sanctions bill. Instead, this bill uses Ukraine as cover to expand Trump's tariff authority.” Print Email Share Tweet
