Whitehouse and Amo Applaud Brown Health’s Decision to Preserve Newport Hospital Birthing Center

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressman Gabe Amo today issued the following joint statement regarding Brown Health’s decision to keep Newport Hospital’s Noreen Stonor Drexel Birthing Center open while undertaking a broader review: “We are very happy with today’s news, which for now preserves an excellent option for Aquidneck Island women much closer to home.  We shared with Brown Health the importance of this outcome for Newport County and all Rhode Islanders, and are grateful they took all the community’s feedback to heart.”
