Schmidt-Backed Concealed Carry Bill Advances in House

March 25, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON, DC : Today, Congressman Derek Schmidt (KS-02) issued the following statement after the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act passed out of the House Judiciary Committee. The Schmidt-cosponsored bill would enable Kansans to carry concealed firearms nationwide. “I’m very glad our committee has advanced the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act , which builds upon the work I did as Attorney General to expand the number of states that recognize Kansas concealed carry permits,” Congressman Schmidt said . “Kansans should be able to freely exercise their constitutional rights no matter which state they’re in. I proudly cosponsored this important legislation during my first days in office and look forward to voting for it on the House floor.” BACKGROUND Kansas concealed carry permit holders can currently carry in 39 other states . Originally introduced by Congressman Richard Hudson (NC-09), H.R. 38 ,  the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act , would amend current law to all0w Kansans and citizens of other states with state-issued concealed carry licenses or permits to carry a concealed handgun in any other state. It would also allow residents of constitutional carry states to carry in other states. ### Issues : Congress
