REP LIEU Sworn INTO Sixth TERM in Congress
Image January 3, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) was sworn in to his sixth term serving as the United States Representative for California’s 36 th Congressional District. Upon being sworn in, Congressman Lieu issued the following statement. “I am grateful to have been sworn into my sixth term in Congress. I don’t take for granted the trust that my constituents put in me to fight for their rights and for our shared American values. I look forward to continuing to be their advocate in Washington. “Today begins a new Congress, and although I voted for Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker, I am grateful that Republicans did not drag out the Speaker vote for days on end. I have appreciated working with Speaker Johnson on issues related to artificial intelligence and I hope this year we’re able to expand upon the AI Task Force’s accomplishments last Congress. “ I also want to express my gratitude to my colleagues for putting their trust in me to be Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus again. With a majority as narrow as this one, it will be essential for Republicans to work with Democrats to get things done. Recent history would tell us that Republican infighting over funding bills may bring us to the brink of disaster and I genuinely hope that will not be the case again under the new Administration. Americans have signaled that they want solutions to pressing problems related to housing affordability, rising prices, and healthcare. Democrats are laser-focused on these issues, and I hope Republicans will join us in working for American families.” ### Issues : Government Oversight & Ethics Local Issues
