Senator Andy Kim Statement on the Reported Agreement Reached Between the U.S. and Iran
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Andy Kim (D-N.J.) released the following statement on the reported Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran: “Trump sent us into a reckless war of choice with Iran only to put us in a worse position than before. This war cost 13 Americans their lives, burned through munitions stockpiles, took our eye off the ball the Indo-Pacific, and cost Americans nearly $60 billion in sky high gas prices. “Trump’s “deal” to end this war will empower Iran in the region, line its pockets while leaving substantial open questions about its nuclear program and the potential for Iran to continue to control traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. “This war was an expensive blunder of this administration’s own making—one that has damaged our national security and further squeezed Americans’ wallets.” ###
